Ellie Davies (born 1976) is a fine art photographer living in London who works in the woods and forests of the UK. She gained an MA in Photography from the London College of Communication in 2008. Ellie’s work is concerned with ourrelationship with the landscape and natural world around us, and the cultural meanings we bring to it. Her work explores the complex interrelationship between landscape and beauty, and the notion that our understanding of landscape is constructed – subverting the notion of beauty as truth – and referencing the wider issues of authenticity within photography.

Ellie was honourably mentioned in the 2008 New York Photo Awards as well as receiving three honourable mentions in the PX3 Prix de la Photographie Paris Awards. In 2009, Ellie was the recipient of several other awards including the New Brewery Arts Open Public Choice Award and The Charmain Adams Award. 2010 saw Ellie collect 1st Place in the Fine Art Landscape Category at the 2010 PX3 Paris Prix de la Photographie Paris Awards, and an Honourable Mention in the Lens Culture International Exposure Awards. In 2011, Ellie had her first two solo shows in both London and Kiev, and her work toured Paris, New York and San Francisco as part of the Lens Culture International Exposure Awards.

Since then Ellie has exhibited in several further solo and group shows both in the UK and Russia, and won further awards including an Honourable Mention on the Professional Women Photographers International Juried Exhibition in 2012 and First Place in the 2014 Kontinent Awards in the Fine Art Projects Category.

Ellie’s work has appeared in numerous magazines and newspapers, and most recently been published in several books including WUD: Four Fictional Walks in the Woods, a limited edition hardcover photobook published by Tangerine Press, and Behind the Image By Natasha Caruana and Anna Fox published in 2012.

Her work is held in private collections in the UK, the US, Central and Eastern Europe, South Korea, Hong Kong, Russia and The United Arab Emirates.  WUD: Four Fictional Walks in the Woods has been added to the collections of the National Art Library at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, The Library Project Bookshop, Dublin and The Glasgow School of Art Library.
