The 19th July 2022 was the UK’s hottest recorded day. When most were abandoning work for nearby cool spots or sun-drenched parks, Brighton-based photographer Andy Lo Pò took this opportunity to capture the local populace indulging in the panoramic coastline waters.
“I made these constructed images to amplify and focus our attention on these everyday people. They were jumping, dropping, turning, twisting, and somersaulting into the sea… By removing certain elements within the frame, I wanted to elevate them to angelic status for the very brief time they were in the air. By removing all other distractions, we are just left to analyse them as solo portraits of ordinary people floating, frozen in the sky.”
